Drinking water supply project for Kiffa in Mauritania
Project content
- The Ministry of Water and Sanitation (MHA) has received a loan from the Kuwaiti Fund for Arab Economic Development (FKDEA) to finance the work on the project to supply drinking water to the city of Kiffa from the Senegal River.
- The Ministry plans to use these funds for payments related to the contract for carrying out work on the water supply and distribution networks on the street.
- The scope of the planned works includes the entire water supply and distribution infrastructure between the R2 reservoir (PK100) and the SP3 pumping station (PK170) in Kankossa, including antennas and distribution tanks.
- The works in this lot include: 70 km of ductile iron supply line DN 800 mm; 70 km of HDPE supply line, of which 50 km are in DE 400 mm and 20 km are in DE 315 mm; 197 km of HDPE distribution network DE 63-250 mm; construction of a pumping station (SP4 Taghada) with a flow rate of 5.4 m3/h and a HMT of 55 m; construction of 13 water towers and rehabilitation of 6 existing water towers.
Project status
Milestones 1 – Development, 2 – Preliminary planning and final decision. Determination of the technology, and 4 – Financing are completed
Joint venture contract with Saudi Arabian general contractor has been signed.
The general contractor’s offer is currently being prepared.
The contract for the assumption of project management - Milestone 5 – is ready for signature.
Next step
Mutual signing of the contract for the assumption of project management - Milestone 5 Completion of the offer from the intended general contractor. Submission of the offer with bidder guarantee (1.5% of the contract volume up to a maximum of 120 days/award of the contract) at the end of April 2025.
